"Appointments cancelled, not informed"

A month ago in Digestive Diseases I turned up only to be told my appointment was cancelled, luckily they squeezed me in anyway as I was very upset about it. I was definitely not called in advance. Overheard several other patients saying the same thing while I was in the waiting room too.

Today, same thing. Nobody called, turned up to a Cardiology appointment and was told it was cancelled even though it was only booked two days ago as a slot became available. No explanation was given. I was offered to be squeezed in if I waited two extra hours but it wasn't an option for me.

I have physical problems so getting there is tiring and painful. If they'd just let me know in advance it would save a lot of suffering! After the first incident we checked our contact details on the system and both home phone and mobile are correct. All day I was near the phone and they didn't call. My mobile was with me even on my way to the appointment and wasn't called on there either.
