"sent home without treatment"

About: Countess Of Chester Hospital

I took my son to A & E on Monday due to severe pain under the ribs. He was doubled up in pain and close to tears. He'd been like this since last Thursday and had been to see his GP who prescribed drugs and gave him a referral form for a chest X Ray. We took the referral form , which gave the GPs recommendations and request for a chest X Ray. When seen in the Urgent Treatment Centre the Clinician refused to treat him because the referral was for a welsh hospital not their health board !!! he explained that I was giving him some of my co-codamol for pain relief as an interim measure and her answer was to keep taking them because they couldn't give him anything stronger.

By Monday evening he was much worse and we took him to Wrexham Maelor where he collapsed on the floor while waiting to be seen. He was taken straight through to see a doctor and given Morphine for the pain and then X Rays which found what was causing him such pain and distress. The doctor at Wrexham could not believe he was turned away from an A & E department without any treatment. Hang your heads in shame.
