"Awful and scarring"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

What I liked

Nothing. The way me and my wife were treated during our particular issues here has left permanent scars emotionally.

What could be improved

First of all, they closed our local hospital with A&E at pontefract, meaning we had to drive probably 11 miles to wakefield, waiting in traffic.

Secondly, when we got there it was the first time we'd seen the new hospital and were discussed at home aesthetically pleasing and spacious it had been made.

Thirdly, and the most importantly, my wife and I were going through the most traumatic time in our marriage. She was in the process of losing our child, and we had to sit and wait in the A&E and watch people with twisted ankles getting seen before us. She started bleeding at home, and it took over 2 hours to be seen. This event messed us up for a long time, and the way we were treated only fuelled that. All I can say is thank god I'm now part of private medical and don't have to be treated like this anymore.

Fourth and final is that the security there is awful. There was only one guy in A&E and they brought in an abusive drunk at some point who was abusing the people in there. It had to take an old lady to go get the security guard who was sat around the corner. So we all had to sit in that room for over an hour feeling awkward and intimidated, on top of the issues we all had already.

Awful service, no feeling of prioritisation or regard for the personal impacts and importance of some issues. I worked in Estonia for 10 months, and the hospitals there in an ex-soviet owned country were immaculate in comparison. modern facilities, modern equipment, blood test and scans done within an hour, not weeks.

Anything else?

Stop spending money where it's not needed.
