"Health care & diagnosing issue."

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

I have been admitted three times in less than three weeks. Same issue of acute renal failure due to ileostomy operation. When trying to gain an understanding of my problem, different doctors were giving conflicting responses. Nursing care standard was very inconsistent. Some nurses were excellent, some were poor and no engaging. My partner had to supplement my care by doing some tasks, that were the role of the nurses on duty. At times I did not feel safe being on the ward. I am very much aware of the staffing problem facing the NHS at the moment. However, communication and keeping patients and there carers informed of their health care plan does not take a lot of staffing to implement. Patients feel safer when they are kept up to date, and spoken to like a human being. Nursing staff expect respect( and so they should) but the patient is the reason you have nurses. Respect and dignity is a mutual expectation, that is greatly over looked and not always given to the patient.
