"Lack of tact"

I was admitted to hospital recently for hip replacement. The care and treatment has generally been of the highest of standards. From cleaner to consultant, they all play a vital role in assuring the wellbeing of the patient. Top marks to all!

I will admit that I present a rather striking sight,

Staff attitude

I will admit that my chosen mode of attire is striking and for some people, challenging too. Simply put, my choice is to wear a skirt with no pretence at presenting as feminine. 

A couple of days after my operation, I had my first experience of independent mobility since the operation. I passed a nurse in the corridor who stared quite blatantly.

I saw the same person on another occasion during the day. Each time the rude look was repeated.  The nurse never made any comment but seemed to find my attire amusing enough to bring it to a colleagues attention. The pity is that I had also received several very positive comments from other patients and staff members. By the lack of tact and sheer ignorance of the potential effect, this nurse cast a certain shadow.
