"No longer any good for my health care"

About: Riversley Road Surgery

I have been attending this surgery many years since the previous doctors were at the surgery! The new doctors took over the practice a number of years ago and started to have appointments with one particular doctor regularly when needed. To the point where by both myself and this doctor had built up somewhat of a good relationship.

Along with the many changes made within the NHS system (most of which I consider to the detriment of the patient) and within the practice I consider that the care I now receive along with the relationship with this doctor has severely suffered.

Generally, when ill you have to call at 8am to get an appointment that day which causes stress as often it is engaged for many minutes and when you finally get through it is regular for all appointments to be booked and get offered a telephone appointment instead for the doctor to decide if they want you to have an appointment or not. When you do get an appointment it is not discussed who you would like to see, your not told who the appointment is booked with and over the last year have seen 5 different doctors for myself and my son which is not good for your long term health care.

I was a smoker for many years so all my problems used to be blamed on that, so I gave up just over 2 years ago and as they can no longer blame smoking as the cause it has just moved onto my lifestyle the cause! In appointments I feel rushed and pressured into just talking about a single main symptom when there is often many, I feel I am not listened to or believed when trying to express how I feel in my own body. Which is something I really struggle with verbally expressing a pain or feeling and the whole make up exacerbates this situation! When tests have shown something wrong I feel it is not taken seriously like it is some fad or something and references are made to other peoples similar issues which is of no importance in my health care at all!

My last appointment I walked out of as it was a new doctor never saw anywhere in the practice before yet again, I felt they did not listen or understand me and even their face kept having a smirk on it! Anyway I was complaining of a long standing pain that has worsened over the last few months, was given the standard physical examination then the doctor wanted to only discuss pain relief options without obviously knowing my medical background! Their attitude was unprofessional and obnoxious.
