"Like family"

I can't put into words how amazing this service has been for me in so many ways. When I started therapy I was in such a bad place I don't even know where to start. My counsellor and the nursery nurse who first looked after me and then my baby were wonderful. They would always go the extra mile and they became my safe place for over a year. It's a shame I have now been discharged (it happens when baby turns 1) but I understand that other mums now need this more than I do.

I can't recommend this enough if you're a new mum and you struggle with overwhelm, anxiety, panic, exhaustion, depression or if you're having a tough pregnancy and you need extra support. Unfortunately the therapy starts from 20 weeks pregnant which, according to me, can be quite late especially if you experience a tough first trimester (like I did) but nevertheless the help you get when you reach that mark is incredible.

Thank you so much for your help.

As a team we are very privileged as we are able to support and share a families Journey through a very significant period of time, pregnancy and up to the first year of a child’s life. We strive to nurture and guide families through the difficult times and work in a recovery focused way.

The first initial meeting is so important to build that trust and from your feedback it sounds as though the team were able to do that above and beyond. Thank you for sharing your experience, so many families are anxious about how their first experience may be and for new mums being able to read your feedback it will help put them at ease.

In regards to the criteria being from 20 weeks gestation, it has been a consistent topic highlighted by service users. I am pleased to share with you that the new funding that’s been provided for the development of the Perinatal community team has meant we are now able to support mums from a confirmed pregnancy.

Thank you again for the feedback and for allowing the team to be part of your journey though the perinatal period. We wish your family all the best for the future.
