"labour at North Staffs"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I had contractions all day long. This was my first baby. i had spoken to my midwife in the morning and she had told me not to worry as it was likely to be braxton hick as it was two weeks before my due date.

I rang the hospital that evening an they told me to go straight up. I got there i was waiting in the early pregnancy unit they took my green book. i waited 45minutes, but i must state it was really busy, before i was seen by a nurse and that was only because i was hanging off the walls in pain.

She checked me over to see what was going on i was 9cm dilated so they took me to a bed then i was left there for further 15minutes before i was asked if i needed any gas and air. They took me to the labour ward going on 1hour and 30minutes after arriving where i met a midwife she was really good and my baby boy arrived 30 minutes later. I would like to say thanks to the midwife and doctor who helped me to bring my beauitful baby boy in to the world in 2010 at north staffs maternity unit.
