In the early evening of 31 Jan 2019, I was unfortunate and clumsy enough to trip over a footstool at home resulting in what was by all accounts a fairly bad fracture of my right arm. I was however fortunate enough to have been taken to the QE2 Urgent Care Centre for initial treatment - in little over an hour my injury had been x-rayed, the necessary manipulation expertly undertaken, re-x-rayed and plastered ... and the clinical assessment made that surgery would be required for which I was immediately referred to the Lister Hospital, Stevenage. Within 3 hours of my accident I was home again having been to the QE2 Urgent Care Centre and the Lister Hospital where I saw the registrar and a member of the surgical team within an hour. (Surgery followed 2 days later.)
My treatment restored/reinforced my faith in our NHS - it was there when i needed it and I find it difficult to identify any aspects of my treatment that could have been better.
Thank-you and well done to the NHS and it’s staff
