Having just been discharged after (nhs) knee replacement surgery I wanted to share my experience .
Before I went in I was scared but I needn’t have been. I was seen before the op by the surgeon & consultant anaesthetist and felt reassured with what was going to happen. I was particularly concerned about having spinal anaesthetic as I didn’t want to be aware of anything. I needn’t have worried as I only came to as they were bandaging my leg & I felt great afterwards.
Back on the ward I could not have been treated any better. Nothing was too much trouble for anyone.
The physios got me up the day after and with help I was walking on a frame same day.
Day 2 I was on crutches and day 3 I was walking up and down stairs.
Everyone including the housekeeping staff, the catering staff and the medical team were perfect. I couldn’t have been treated any better.
Day 8 today and I’m getting stronger and fitter and more mobile everyday. Thanks to all at Renacres.
