On arrival at K&C hospital, found the car parks being tarmacked ,drove around trying to find a spot to park and finally had to park in the first car park as you enter the hospital. .I am disabled, and my poor O.A.P. Husband had to push me on rough terrain the length of the hospital to Outpatients Reception. There were 45 mph winds that day and difficult to stay on his feet. On reaching the correct area we were asked to check ourselves in. One machine was not working and a kind young lady assisted us to correct area. Unfortunately , there was a queue out the door. All seats were taken and the clinic was running hours late because patients were bemused as to where to park and arriving late. Also there had been a Fire Drill and everyone had to evacuate the building.
After queueing for a long while , a lady came and asked us to return to the main reception desk and rebook. I think she could see the pain that sitting in the wheelchair after a 40 mile round trip to attend and the uncertainty of how long I would have to wait was taking its toll. I asked to be seen at my nearest hospital William Harvey when I am next seen.
I truly felt sorry for the lovely staff who were clearly doing their utmost to alleviate patients discomfort. Just wish it had been made clear to patients attending on that Saturday the parking situation could cause delays,. Thank you all anyway for your efforts.,
