"Brain abscess"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Neurosurgery (Brain and Spinal Surgery) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

I was rushed to hospital after suffering severe headaches and lost the use of my left arm and leg . It was discovered I had a brain abscess. I was very frightened and shocked and had only ever been to hospital for short stays giving birth to my 3 children who are all teenagers .

Thanks to the fantastic work of Mr Walkden and all the team preventing the abscess from bursting by operating as soon as they did I am here to tell the tale.

I can’t thank Mr Walkden , the theatre team , neurology staff, the A&E staff and paramedics enough. Thank you , thank you , thank you .

Hi Lornski,

I am sorry to learn of you having fallen unwell and the need for you to be admitted to hospital. I do hope you have made a full recovery.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch to thank the ambulance crew who cared for you at what must have been a worrying time for you and your family.

I would like to identify the crew who came to you and would like to ask if you can contact the admin team on 01224 812200 to give them more details so we can identify the incident on our system?

It is always great for our crews to receive such feedback. Our staff carry out their duties to their best of ability as they wish to provide quality care.

Thank you again for taking the time to get in touch.

Thank you for the response.

I will give that number a call as soon as I get all my details together of the time I was rushed in . I was very scared and knew something wasn’t right but thanks to the ambulance team they kept me calm on the journey in and were amazing . Thank you , thank you all again.

I have just been told this week my abscess has gone and now the emotional healing begins.

:-)

I have been to my neurosurgery clinic appointment this morning.

After receiving my latest MRI in June I was given the fantastic news that my brain abscess has completely gone and I have been signed off this clinic.

I would like to take this opportunity once again to say a massive thank you to Mr Walkden and all the team involved in my emergency treatment last November. I can honestly say there is not enough thank yous to cover how relieved I feel and how grateful I am.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and everyone I had the pleasure of meeting during my hospital stay did a fantastic job and you all work so hard.

Thank you, thank you and thank you again

Lornski
