"It helps me to understand about my condition"

About: West London NHS Trust / Recovery College

(as a service user),

I have been using the recovery college for over a month now but have been suffering with mental condition for over 2 years which is severe depression and anxiety.

The recovery college is a very necessary tool for people with mental health issues, it is the only thing that really stick in my mind and helps me to understand about my condition and what I can do to help with it.

It would be helpful if there was more ready resources for the course as well as different more in-depth help courses but as I know the funding is very limited for the Recovery college and they could do with having more funding for the extra resources like more in depth reading material and maybe extra staff so its easier for them to getting an understanding on each person condition and be able to have that extra help with someone to talk too and get to grips with out mental condition

Angela and the peer trainers are very understanding and helpful but they can only do so much and with limited funding it makes it very difficult for them to have the time to engage all of us, and have the time for us to voice our feelings toward the course subject.

Dear Prince Diva,

Many thanks for taking the time to give us feedback on the Recovery College. I am pleased to hear that you have found the service useful and that it has helped you to understand your condition and what you can do to help yourself to manage this. I was especially pleased to hear that you have found the staff team to be understanding and helpful.

It would really interesting to hear from you about what type of courses and resources that you would think would improve your experience - we are always looking at how we can be more effective in helping people to make the most of all of our services. It would be great if you felt able to give some feedback on this to the Recovery College team.

Best wishes,

Rob White

Thanks for the reply I will be going to the User Engagement event on the 29th March in which I'll voice my opinion on courses aswell as other matter

But I find some courses like introduction to stress are far too short and don't pass through as much information and believe that you could introduce a short introduction onto the main course 'coping with stress'. So people have an understanding what the next course has to offer and if it will interest them.

In regards to new courses, it would be good if the medication course was avaliable for more places like the King Charles centre aswell as offering other courses like how to help with what you can do in the now like (benefits and funding for getting better and what you can do and where) aswell as some causes that look into how to start with self care like healthy eating, and dealing with difficulty with keeping up with daily hygiene
