What I liked
Nursing staff excellent during the day. Attention was first class and felt safe in all the nursing staff abilities. They always made time to make you feel comfortable.
What could be improved
Quieter nights - know its a hospital but night nursing staff could learn to be a little more sympathetic towards patients who need their sleep especially on an orthopaedic ward that has no emergency admissions. Voices could be lowered. To ensure that when the orthopaedic ward was used by the medical ward patients that the raised height toilet seats are left in position. Try moving it back when you are using crutches in a confined space. Last hot drink served at 8.20 pm one night - perhaps that could be delayed till around 10.30 as last obs. are done at 11.00 pm. Why is it necessary to have the water jugs refilled in the middle of the night causing noise when patients are trying to sleep and recoup. Obs taken at 5.30 am then nothing happens till breakfast at 7.30 - 8.00. Could this be done later allowing the patients to sleep longer. Food - one criticism using more milk when preparing porridge and sauces for cauliflower cheese etc. otherwise food was reasonable.
Anything else?
Apart from the lack of the chance of good quality sleep the care I received was excellent.
"Excellent care but needs to be quieter at night."
