"Special care - They really are amazing"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Neonatology University Hospital Wishaw / Neo-natal Intensive Care

(as a parent/guardian),

My baby was unwell at 3 days old and we were in Wishaw General Hospital in intensive care. We were then transferred to Glasgow Children’s Hospital via ambulance and back to Wishaw special care. The care we received from start to finish was amazing and fortunately my baby was healthy. I was unprepared and only had the clothes on my back, the staff went out of their way to calm me and make me and my baby feel like we were the most important people on that ward. They really are amazing at what they do - thank you.

Dear Patient 217,

Thank you for taking time to let us know about your journey since your baby was born requiring neonatal intensive care. This would have been a frightening and worrying time for you and it is so important to us that you are supported throughout this journey.

I am delighted to hear that the care you received was amazing and that staff ensured you felt calm and made you feel like the most important people. Our staff strive to ensure they deliver the best family centred care within our unit.

I will ensure your comments are fed back to staff and wish you and your baby well.

Kind regards,

Leah Noble

Dear Patient217

Thank you for sharing your feedback on Care Opinion. I am sorry to hear that your newborn baby became so unwell. This must have been a very worrying time for you and your family.

As you say, you can never really be prepared for these circumstances and it is reassuring to hear that the compassionate care you and your baby received from the teams across the 2 hospitals helped to make such a difficult experience more bearable. I will pass your kind words on to the team in the QEUH Neonatal Unit and I know they will be delighted to receive this.

I am pleased to hear that your wee one was well enough to return to Wishaw General and I hope they are continuing to do well.

Best wishes

Patricia
