My baby sister gave birth to a beautiful baby after 36 long hours of contractions and having to resort to a emergency c section due to drop in baby's heart rate. Just texted her to see how she is....this was her response:
"It's awful, the worst after care ever. They haven't changed my pad and it's soaked through. I can't move anywhere because of the stitches... Haven't slept in 40 hours yet they still won't help me with feeding or changing nappies... Haven't eaten in 24 hours and still haven't bought me food and I'm in a room alone :( "
That is not what one wants to hear from someone who has just given birth.
I rang her and asked her to call someone whilst I was on the phone. Nurse came approx 20mins after buzzing and said she would come back to change her sanitary wear, that was her 3rd request and no one has returned....I find this shocking and infuriating.
I rang to ask if I could come and help her do these things for her, at which point i was told, if i were to come then i would be classed as partner, and baby's father would only be able to visit during visiting hours.
This is not what a first time mum, or any new mum for that matter, should have to experience.
She has been told she will have to stay another 2 days. I'm seriously concerned.
