My son has autism. Due to being non verbal and sensory he will not have is teeth brushed, he also grinds his teeth. Unfortunately this means some of his teeth are decaying and he will need to have a general anaesthetic to have the teeth taken out.
The dentist at Cannock hospital was fantastic, so helpful and informative, also very comforting. I asked to see the dr who would do anaesthetic as I had several questions re the method and recovery. The Dentist arranged the appointment. I am writing this to inform you I have never met a member of staff like this in my entire life. They behaved really awfully and I was made to feel like they resented me asking them questions.
When I asked about the different methods, they were only willing to use the mask, nothing else. They told me they had done their job for a long time. To me this felt like they were implying, why are you even asking me this. This member of staff spoke to me in an arrogant and very patronising manner. They didn't listen to my concerns and this was a terrible experience for me.
I have to entrust my child to them and our meeting was not pleasant or informative and I didn't get my questions answered. I am very disappointed,
"Difficult meeting to discuss my son's dental treatment"
