"Abscess drained"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / General surgery (Wards 9a, 9b, 9c & 9d)

(as the patient),

I was seen by A&E and quickly sent along to surgical department to have the abscess drained. General anesthesia and the procedure was complete. Afterwards the wick left inside was just wripped out which was very sore and I believe could have been done in another way. I was then sent home with the wound left open and no information on cleaning between dressings. I was given only a few dressing which would only last a couple of days and no advisory of seeing a nurse or follow up appointment.

I feel let down by the service and this could have been avoided with a little more advice from them before leaving.
