I safely delivered my baby in Peterhead Community Hospital Maternity where all staff were wonderful.
Unfortunately the placenta would not come away and I had to be transferred to Aberdeen Maternity. I ended up in theatre to have it removed after having an epidural. When I was returned to the ward my mother (who had been with me throughout) went home to get a few hours sleep and change of clothes.
My baby was placed out of my reach and left to cry. I could not reach her as I'd had an epidural. A nurse came in and ignored my plea for help and left my baby crying. Another nurse came in later, saw me crying and moved my baby so that I could reach her.
The first nurse came back in, went into my case (without asking me if it was ok), got out deodorant and a pack of wet wipes, threw them on the bed and said "you are going to need to use these" and walked out.
When my mother returned several hours later, I had not been washed or even offered a bowl to wash after having my baby. My mother had to wash me. What sort of treament is that?
I couldn't wait to get out of there and hope that I never have to go back when I increase my family.
