Early last year I had an anterior resection for early rectal cancer at the Western General Hospital Edinburgh where the care I received was excellent.
I arrived at the Victoria Hospital feeling quite anxious. I was met by Shona who went through the paperwork quickly, gave me a gown and shorts and showed me where to change. Her manner and efficiency made me feel very much at ease.
The colonoscopy was carried out by Mr. Robertson assisted by May and Carolyn. They worked as a well trained team and were very reassuring. The procedure while uncomfortable was pain free. To be told by Mr. Robertson immediately after the procedure that there were no concerning feature brought on an immense feeling of relief.
I was then taken through to recovery and was looked after by Craig who produced coffee, toast and jam which were most enjoyable having not eaten since breakfast the previous day. I remain extremely impressed by the care and attention I received by all at the Victoria Hospital!
