"Terrible administration - Leaving patients in..."

About: Emersons Green NHS Treatment Centre

I initially chose Emerson Green due to it being the closest to where I live, having good reviews and good waiting times - big mistake.

Going through Choose & Book I saw a consultant In October who approved me for gallbladder surgery. Consent forms etc, all signed.

Everything went fine as the PRE-OP assessments where done on the same day, with the nurse saying that I could expect to be seen in 6-8 weeks for the actual operation

First problem occurred as I received a call saying my initial blood tests were handled incorrectly (not with their medical results), so more were needed.

Meaning I had to go back a week later for more tests (and losing another day of annual leave from work).

I waited 6 weeks without any further phone calls from Emersons. As I work and needed a rough idea of when the operation was due I tried phoning them in the middle of December but was unable to get through. In the end I tried emailing them but did not receive a reply (apart from an automated email receipt).

As Christmas and New Year intervened I waited until January to for a response without luck. In the end I spent all day trying to phone through to them (as they ignore emails) after being on hold for the best part of an hour I finally got to speak to someone.

Apparently my operation was on hold because I was unfit for surgery due to problems with my first blood test. You know the one back in October which I had redone 1 week later.

Apparently Emersons Green either were so disorganised that they didn't update their blood test records meaning I have spent months in considerable pain.

What's more they did not even bother phoning to let me know there was a problem, answer their phones when I contacted them, or responded to my email.

I can't comment on the quality of their surgery because due to there incompetence it looks like I will never actually experience it. I should have gone to a proper hospital whose waiting lists might have been longer. If I had I would likely have been better off.
