"Poor"

About: Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a service user),

Extremely poor after’care’. The specialist consultant I was referred to does not even bother to take time to asses me despite having many concerns voiced by not only me but my physiotherapist. After already having post operative complications in the past leading to two more surgical procedures I am still met with complete disregard for my ongoing pain and inabilities. I am in pain most of the time and am struggling at work meaning I am now going to have to decrease my hours significantly.

I will be cancelling any further appointments as have no faith or trust I will be taken seriously and that any reassurance will even be given. Even if the outcome would be the same a little reassurance from the actual specialist would have been beneficial rather then being passed on to someone else and avoided.

Thank you for the reply. Since I wrote this review 5 months ago I have had my care transferred to a different hospital under a different consultant who has took time and looked at the scans done at Oswestry and found multiple issues. So after 13 months after my last surgery and still having ongoing pain and inabilities I finally have some answers. I will be making a compliant in writing as soon as I know what can be done to right the problems caused - as the response I had from my consultants registrar at this hospital was to carry on with my physio and everything was ‘fine’. After weekly physio and even a hydrotherapy course, with no improvement, my new consultant has explained that no amount of physio therapy will fix the problems I have. I am very disappointed that after me expressing for months at this hospital, that this leg was not behaving as it should ( and I should know as have had the one done and that is fine) I am finally being listened too, sadly only after seeking an opinion elsewhere.

Thank you for your reply, again I am very sorry to learn of the experiences you have had here.

You mentioned that you wish to make a complaint, as well as writing a letter to the Complaints Manager or the Chief Executive at the hospital you can also send it in via email if this is more convenient; the Complaints Mailbox address is rjah.complaints@nhs.net.

Many thanks.
