After ringing 111 I was told to go to A&E. The transition from triage to a bay was swift. I was treated with dignity and respect, offered a same sex nurse if required for procedures, covered at all times. Every possibility was investigated without fuss. I was asked permission for any procedure. I was then admitted to AAU and was amazed at how lovely the staff were, noting the kindness they were showing an elderly patient who was “tricky” through no fault of her own, probably dementia?
The lady doing lunches and teas showed the same respect and good humour to the elderly lady as the nurses did.
Genuine kindness.
All staff introduced themselves by name to me and were so cheerful. Everything appeared spotless.
We are lucky to have such a facilty, and such a well designed building too, with internal daylight too.
The only downside: the building works sometimes made it sound as if someone was trapped in the bathroom!
And I didn’t have a bell in the side ward when transferred
"Excellent and thorough. Deserving of praise."
