"Colonoscopy"

About: Leeds General Infirmary

I recently had a colonoscopy at Leeds general infirmary, I was referred by gp as I’ve been suffering with my bowels bleeding bloating and pain constipation , I was referred to the colorectal unit at st James and the staff there sent for me to have a colonoscopy, I had the moviprep sent in the post which for everyone to know for me it wasn’t to bad do not read bad review they frighten life out of you , I managed it very well , the next day I went for my colonoscopy where I was greeted and taken for admission explaining my procedure took my blood pressure ect , I was then taken to change into my lovely gown and beautifull blue shorts with a lovely slit in them 😂, I was very nervous and frightened , the doctor performing my procedure greeted me and took my through I was then greeted my two lovely nurses , I was then canulated for the sedative to be given and then proceeded with the procedure the only pain I had was because my appendix burst as child and the scar tissue was quiet tight but once past the bit of my bowel everything was fine I was relaxed made to feel at ease and watched what was happening on the screen the staff was brilliant cannot fault them

I advice anyone to take someone with you to be sedated make this whole thing easier and your more relaxed and these reviews I see saying it so painfull puts everyone off I hope mine does the opposite we cannot avoid these things if they need to be done , follows the moviprep instructions and when you go be reassured you will be very looked after you receive your results and will go back to see who referred you for a follow up luckily mine come back with no disease , I do have erosive gastritis and hiatus hernia that in its self is something to deal with but no problems with the bowel , good luck to others nhs Leeds have done me very well these past few months

Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us.

Your post is wonderful to read and I am delighted to know that our services are delivering a level of care that met your needs and fulfilled all your expectations.

I have taken the liberty of passing your kind words on to the matron for colonoscopy services and asked that these are shared with the team. I know at all the staff will be exceptionally pleased with your wonderful words of support and encouragement.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to write to us.

With kindest regards
