"Leaving hospital - there should more support"

About: Devon Partnership NHS Trust

My friend has recently left hospital and moved back to supported accomodation. He has only be out of hospital for 3-4 days and has not been able to get his injection because the ward did not send to his GP and it is Friday so now he wont get it till monday. This is not good enough and there should be somewhere, where people can there medication if it is forgotton, lost or in this case unavailable. People are put on CTO's for not taking their medicaiton and when they do want to take it they cannot sometimes get it when they need it.

Please try to give a continuity of care. I understand that there is shortage of staff and resources but this is just a problem with planning ahead which the NHS mental health services seem not be able to do properly. But we need these services and we need them to better, there are lovely dedicated staff and I applaud them all.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I am very sorry to hear of the difficulties your friend experienced getting access to his medication. When a person is discharged from a ward, the GP would usually be advised in writing including details of any medication. I am very sorry that this did not happen for your friend.

I would be very grateful if you could contact me on 01392 675686 or via email to dpn-tr.pals@nhs.net and provide me with additional details so that I am able to look into this further and follow this up with the relevant ward.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
