"Fabulous nursing team"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital

I had a recent, unexpected 2 night stay in Whipps starring in A and E, theatre, recovery then onto Rowan Ward. Whilst the hospital was exceptionally busy ALL staff I came into contact with remained courteous, professional and helpful. The first memorable encounter was at reception. All staff here did there best to keep a sense of humour under very busy circumstances. They were polite, courteous and as informative as possible without making unrealistic promises! Thank you.

The nursing staff on ALL wards stood out as doing a fabulous job. I do not recall the names of everyone who helped me but one nurse in A and E was fantastic, polite, respectful and very patient with me despite being super busy. She helped me get the care I needed in a timely way by going out of her way to help me have an x-ray in time to go on the theatre list. The radiographer was lovely, she explained things clearly and was happy to answer questions about the images and give me some feedback to put my mind at rest. She even went back to look at images to answer a question unrelated to my current injury which really helped and her cheery demeanour lifted my spirits in the early hours!

The orthopaedic team were great at giving a simple explanation of procedure and putting me at ease. The anaesthetist I saw pre op was amazing, patient and supportive explaining procedures clearly, listening respectfully to my concerns and did a great job at communicating with the team doing the op to ensure things ran smoothly. I couldn’t have been more impressed with the team who carried out the procedure.

The recovery nurse was amazing, kind, helpful and friendly and really helped me to manage the anxieties I had by ensuring I had everything I needed in good time. She stayed beyond her working day until a bed was found for me.

On transfer to Rowan ward I was met by again another busy but welcoming team who took their time to ensure my needs were met and questions answered! One nurse in particular was always able to take time to accommodate needs and found a way to help me see my family outside of visiting hours.

I am really impressed by and appreciative for all the help I have received and at how everyone worked together at the busiest of times to keep things working as smoothly as possible.

What an amazing job they all do, thank you.
