About: Southmead Hospital

What I liked

I was referred to the assessment unit in the maternity department at Southmead as I was experiencing reduced foetal movements at 37+ 5 weeks. The staff I encountered were extremely reassuring and despite the fact that I felt much better once CTG monitoring was put in place we were offered an additional ultrasound scan the following morning. I felt my concerns were taken seriously and felt reassured that I had acted appropriately.

I wanted to pass on my thanks to the staff in the assessment unit for their professional and reassuring manner. As someone who works in the NHS I know that all too often staff only hear negative feedback so I hope that writing something in this forum ensures that not only the staff hear that their care was appreciated but also the hospital management.

Dear jmenzies

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to relate your experience of North Bristol’s Trust’s maternity services. I am pleased that you found the support provided so reassuring.

We do monitor the comments received via the NHS Choices website closely as it provides very valuable feedback on our services. Please be reassured that have passed on you positive comments about the professionalism of the staff to the departmental management so it can be cascaded to the staff involved, and to the Chief Executive.

Kind Regards – Steve Sykes
