"Reducing Infection"

About: Warwick Hospital

What could be improved

Drinking beakers for patients unable to use a cup are in short supply. This means that they are rinsed in the hand washing sinks, often in cold water and refilled. The tea lady repeats this process from patient to patient. I would imagine germs can be spread very easily. An easy way of reducing infection would be to have fresh beakers that have been hygenically washed?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I would like to investigate this further so that I can ensure that if this is happening then it is stopped immediately. Please could you email me directly at glen.burley@swft.nhs.uk to let me know the ward area that you have referred to.
