"Excellent until the visit by an arrogant..."

About: Leicester General Hospital

What I liked

I came in as a day patient on ward 18 the operation went well the and the consultant said as I left the theatre that I could go home in a few hours when the epidural wore off. Back to the ward where the nurses were very kind and caring. The physiotherapist came on to the ward and looked at my dressings and told me that I would have to stay overnight. I did try and tell her that the consulltant had said I could go home but she just did not listen. She arranged a bed on another ward and I was taken there by one of the nurses from the unit. The nurse said she would try and contact my consultant which thankfully she did and the consultant came on to the ward sometime later and confirmed that I could indeed go home. The physiotherapist in question had to come to the ward to sort out some shoes and show me how to use the crutches she left them at the desk and refused to come and see me. I feel she made what was a routine visit to the hospital very unpleasant, I did not get home until 8.30 pm in the evening.

What could be improved

The physiotherapist should have listened to me and not been so rude as to ignore what a patient was saying.

Anything else?

This is the second operation I have had in the hospital as a day patient, the first op Feb 2011 I was seen by a physiotherapist a gentleman who was very good and listened to me.
