"Am I having a miscarriage?"

About: Hillingdon Hospital

I came to the hospital a&e at 12.30 due to being 12 weeks pregnant and experiencing heavy bleeding. At 3pm I was called through and asked to wait in a different waiting room where it turns out half the inhabitants from the original a&e waiting room had been called. I’m sure this was to ensure they met what ever time limit is in place. And the place was filthy - biscuits, crisps, hair balls and tissues all over the place.

I continued to wait whilst numerous people arrived after and before me were seen.

After the waiting room emptied out they then went on to call patients from the main a&e waiting room rather than actually calling either myself or the one other person left in the room. I had to then approach the staff and ask what was going on ans how this was acceptable. Ten minutes later I was called.

At this point I was told that it’s too late to have a scan today (it is now 4.30pm) and they will have to call me to come in the following day. However I should know that just because I was called tomorrow doesn’t mean I would be seen tomorrow.

The doctor then let me know that at this point “if it’s happening it’s happening” and that waiting an extra day will not make a difference. Ignoring the amount of anxiety that I have at this moment in time.

Besides wasting a big portion of my day there the one question I needed answered is still a big fat question mark. Am I having a miscarriage!
