I had my total hip replacement two weeks ago and have nothing but praise for the centre and staff during my five day stay there.
The idea of the preoperative tour and talk is excellent and gave obviously jittery patients the chance to see exactly what to expect and where it all happens.
On arrival on the morning of my operation we were greeted by smiling faces and reassurance: everyone was so kind and very professional, a fact I appreciated as having worked in Radiography all my life, I know how worked up people get when faced by the thought of invasive procedures. A lovely touch was the snuggly warm air cover.
Before the sedative was in my arm it seemed I was back in post op care and soon transferred back to Oaks Ward where I had a bay to myself.
All the staff came to say hello and I was settled in for another long sleep. One small matter, I could not reach anything as my table was next to the wall and I was next to the window!
But my call button was always at hand and safely secured All ward staff from cleaners nurses , caterers, physios worked as a team and it showed Thank you.
"An eye opening experience"
