"My purse"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Maternity

(as a service user),

Had my new born baby boy recently. Was staying in Mary Ward for couple of days having anti biotics. My purse was stolen on the ward whilst my baby was having his bloods and I was in the shower.

Disgusted that the police couldn't do anything and staff didn't report until 2 days later. I was spoken to rudely by one of the midwives when I asked a question to see if security was informed.

How could this be happening whilst babies are being cared for.  Disappointed.

I am very sorry to hear that you have been a victim of theft.

Service users are encouraged to deposit valuable items in the ward safe or to have them taken home. However in the event that they decide to keep them in their possession and they are then lost or stolen, the usual process would be to contact the police.

I hope that both you and your son are now fully recovered and congratulate you on his birth

Kind Regards

Sarah Pritchard, Patient Experience Manager
