I have recently received physio through the BGH and cannot thank them enough for the support they have given me.
When I was younger I used exercise to help me manage my emotions but following a back injury this has not been possible. The consequences were that my mental health suffered and I also gained weight. Whilst I had been referred for physiotherapy through the usual route I was also referred to them through the mental health support route. This was much quicker.
Particular thanks go to Rebecca for encouraging me to have hydrotherapy, I was reluctant due to the weight gain but she explained what was happening to my back and how this would be eased with the exercises in the water. After a couple of sessions at the pool in the hospital I asked Rebecca if she could come to my local pool with me so that I could do my exercises there. Rebecca was very accommodating, came to the pool with me, spoke to the managers there to make adjustments for me whenever I attended, with this level of support I now use the local pool 2/3 times a week, have lost some weight and feel better all round. Without Rebecca I would not have gone into the water.
Rebecca is a lovely person, it helped that she shared her own experience with me so that I could see that she understood what I was going through.
