"Very happy"

About: Barnet Hospital

Went to Vilnius, Lithuania on 7 December for the weekend and fell over on a very icy pavement.

Was advised by the hospital in Vilnius that I had a triple fracture of the humerus and was literally bandaged up and told to go back to the UK and see a doctor!

Got back to Luton at 7 the following morning and, after a much needed breakfast, went straight to A&E at Barnet.

Yes, there was a fair bit of hanging around (we were there for six hours) but it was a Saturday, there were lots of people there and the staff were rushed off their feet.

The staff kept apologising for keeping me waiting but I couldn't fault the care and attention I received and, when I was discharged, I was told that the Fracture Clinic would be in touch

Two days later the Fracture Clinic rang me to say I had an appointment three days later.

I then met the specialist who told me he would be operating on me the following week

My operation took place on 20 December and I was looked after by SAU at Barnet.

From beginning to end I received nothing but kindness, reassurance and fantastic nursing care.

Everyone was absolutely brilliant and all went the extra mile to help

31 December I had a follow up visit to the Fracture Clinic.

We were told that they were running late by an hour and ten minutes but, again, the staff kept patients advised and, once more, I was more than satisfied with the medical care that I received

I start physiotherapy today and just feel so lucky (despite having had a plate and nine pins inserted in my right arm) that we have the NHS and people like the staff at Barnet who work so diligently.

Going on my personal experience, I cannot praise the hospital enough

Dear Alison

Thank you for leaving feedback, I sorry to hear your holiday ended in the way it did but pleased we were able to help once you were back in the UK. Thank you also for your patience, not everyone is as patient in ED.

Staff will be chuffed to bits to read you could not praise the hospital enough; I hope your physio is going well and I wish you the best going forward with your recovery.

With Best Wishes

Richard
