"Failure to follow up results after an ultrasound"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Gynaecology Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Xrays & Scans General practices in Forth Valley

(as the patient),

I went for an ultrasound scan in early December and was told at my scan that I would be required to revisit the hospital due to what had appeared on my results and that a Doctor would be contacting me in the next few days.

2 weeks went by and I still had not received any contact from the hospital, so I phoned them, where I was told they did not have my results and was instructed to phone my local GP - even though it was the hospital consultant that sent me for the scan. My GP naturally said the same as myself and did not understand why the hospital were not giving me my results. More time went on and still I was past from pillar to post in relation to obtaining my results.

Eventually my GP managed to get a hold of my results and told me my diagnosis and again informed me that I would be required to go for follow up appointments and further tests. However on Christmas Eve I received a letter from the hospital stating that there were no abnormalities and no further appointments would be required - which was the opposite to what I had been told by 2 other specialists.

I immediately phoned my GP who could not understand why the letter had been sent out to me stating this as it was obvious from the report from my scan what it was indicating. The GP then tried to contact the hospital on several occasions and received nothing back. I am still waiting to hear back what the next steps are. Absolutely shocking service that I have received.
