"Now I cant even get the reassurance that I need"

About: The Oaks Medical Centre

(as a service user),

Having previously suffering a miscarriage in 2017, Found out i was pregnant again in December 2018 having taken over 1.5 years to become so again.

I'm obviously on edge following on from last experience so went to my GP straight away to get antenatal care ball rolling (must also mention that i am epileptic so higher risk of issues anyway)

Received a letter from GP surgery 2 weeks later stating that they have changed their practice boundaries and i no longer am allowed to be a patient and to find a GP.

Absolutely disgusted regarding my treatment at a time where i really need them. When i informed the GP of my pregnancy i said i'm so on edge due to previous miscarriage, they said don't worry, we will look after you. Well that turns out to be a joke! Not only now am i stressing about having to find a new GP, my antenatal care is now severely delayed, i cant order my epilepsy medication that i have to take daily and i cant talk to anyone about my concerns in regards to my pregnancy.

I called the surgery, the receptionist who answered the phone told me the person who deals with the boundaries etc will call me back as they were on lunch, 1 week later still no return phone call.

I have been with this surgery when it was in the previous building, before it was in the new fancy building on Shady Lane and the "care" (i use this term loosely) i have received at a time when i need them the most to look after me and my unborn baby has been appalling from my perspective. I am epileptic, highly stressed, already on edge from my history and now i cant even get the reassurance and help that i need.

Thank you for your posting on Care Opinion. We take all feedback seriously and have looked into this matter carefully. From what we can conclude you live within a Wolverhampton postcode which is outside our boundary. As a Practice we take great care when patients do register from outside a boundary, we explain that patients might not be able to access a full range of primary care services. With that in mind we will have suggested to you that they you would be better served by another practice with access to the Wolverhampton Midwife Teams as the practice is served by Birmingham Midwives. So access to the full range of care needed, was outside our control.

We hope that you can now access all the necessary care for your pregnancy.
