"A & E"

About: Lister Hospital

Our son attended A&E at approx 1 pm on Thursday 27th December and yes the department was very crowded due to patients coming in after the Christmas period. Our son had been having pains for the lat 2 weeks in the stomach and round the body but with Christmas coming tried to put it on the back burner. It got so bad that we advised him to call in at A&E at Lister as he was on his way home to Enfield after staying with us. He was told at first that it could be the Gall Bladder or Appendicitis and would be given a CT Scan but would have to wait his turn, which was fair enough. He stayed all day and was given a bed at 1230 and given a Scan on Friday morning. The scan revealed that nothing on his Appendix or his Gall Bladder so then they gave him blood tests. One of the blood tests revealed it to be diverticulitis and then he was given more blood tests and as i understand it it has lowered and so he could be released from hospital. Now he will be working on his diet.

All told my son was at A&E for 28 hours and our son said ''Dad everyone in the A&E were brilliant from the Consultant to the cleaner, working under hard conditions they gave him as much time as they could and everyone was so considerate''. We are so grateful that our son had the best treatment and that everyone was so kind to him. Please thank all your staff in A&E as we, the public, are so quick to criticise and not so quick to show appreciate.

Best Regards and a Happy New Year to all your staff

Thank you for getting in touch Ken. We're glad to hear that your son was looked after well by our A&E team and we do hope that he is now on the mend. We will share your feedback with the team.
