I was a patient in University Hospital Wishaw due to having a pulmonary embolism.
I was admitted to emergency care then transferred to ward 8. The care given by all staff in the hospital from the beginning of my admission until my discharge was excellent.
The ward was very busy and the demands put on the staff at a lot of times were huge, but they were always dealt with courteously, efficiently and with a smile and a caring attitude. All staff from consultant Dr Vickers to nursing staff, hotel services staff, porters, and all others who made a contribution to my care were professional, efficient and friendly.
In particular, Ashley (HCSW) and Jackie (Staff Nurse) went above and beyond to ensure I was made feel comfortable and at ease during a stressful time for me. Nurse Jackie kept me informed about each step of the treatment and care that I was being given, explaining each process and the reason for it.
This made me feel as though I was able to understand how I was being treated, and what effect these treatments were having on my condition.
"Kept me informed"
