What I liked
Absolutely nothing.
What could be improved
Every single thing.
Anything else?
Do not, under any circumstances, allow a relative of yours to be admitted to Newton 1 ward at this hospital. My relative was admitted to this ward (and passed away there) a few months ago. I know the first stage of the grieving process is anger and I have waited for this to diminish before writing this. It has diminished somewhat but not completely and I don't think it ever will because of the treatment and care (?) my relative received on this ward. The ward itself was filthy and there are far too many beds crammed into such a small space especially when there are empty bays just a few yards away. The care of my relative by all the people involved was diabolical. The nurses (including Sisters) should really have a good look at themselves and ask themselves if this is really the career they have trained so hard for because from what I saw none of them were happy in their work. I was given no information directly from anyone of them regarding my relative and when I asked them what was being done they were elusive to say the least. Surely I have a right to know what treatment my relative was being given but apparently not. (Date Protection has a lot to answer for here). The last time I saw my relative alive (they passed away shortly after) the Sister and nurses on duty would have known that their life was coming to an end, I myself knew and I am not medically trained, but did they have a kind word to say to me or to say I could stay as long as I wanted, No they did not. In fact I was totally ignored by all nurses and Sister on duty that night, the Sister herself actually turned her back on me when she saw me. Hopefully now, by writing this my anger will fade away a bit more but I will never forget the staff on Newton 1 ward for as long as I live. I really don't know how any of you can sleep at night and if you do I hope your dreams are nightmares.
