"Friendly, professional and welcoming."

About: Heatherwood Hospital

What I liked

I had to go to Heatherwood Hospital for a minor operation. Although the ward I should have been on had been changed, the staff were very helpful and made sure I knew where to go to find the alternative ward. I was given a friendly welcome by the staff, who kept me informed of what was happening and the probable time scale of events. Although the staff were clearly busy, nonetheless, I was made to feel as if I was the only important person there!

After the operation, the staff checked regularly and often to make sure that I was okay.

What could be improved

Hardly anything! I could mention that there was no terminal - I think it was for a Hospicom system - at my bed for tv, radio etc. However, although I would have been quite interested to try the system out, I wasn't there long enough to be bothered by this, and I'm sure that if I had asked the staff they would have sorted something out for me.

Anything else?

I'm not used to having operations and although this was minor, it could still have been daunting were it not for the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. All the staff introduced themselves to me, kept me well-informed and were very reassuring. Everyone seemed to enjoy the work that they were doing.
