"Excellent GP practice who are always patient..."

About: The Om Surgery

I’ve been registered at the surgery for over 10 years and during that time I have suffered with poor health including a cancer diagnosis. At times like that every patient needs a kind, understanding and professional GP. The doctor and staff at this surgery are all patient focused/ opening times to suit everyone, late night and early morning slots and I never have to wait to be seen. There are no silly practices such as ringing first thing to get in the same day and I have never been told I have to wait longer than a few days for a routine appointment. The waiting area has a wide range of literature on local health services and information on health conditions and I’ve often picked up a handy booklet whilst visiting the practice. I like the friendly and professional team on reception and the doctor is a gentleman who listens. If I speak to the GP about my concerns and I make any suggestions myself, he is receptive to new ideas and looks into matters before prescribing new medications for example. I always feel as though the staff care and my treatment is appropriate. If I need an urgent appointment this is generally facilitated the same day. When I have been ‘slotted in’ for an urgent appointment the doctor never makes me feel like I shouldn’t be there- he’s very reassuring. I do often hear people complain about their GP service and I feel very fortunate to have a local, friendly and professional service looking after me and my family. I would say to patients who are unhappy/ think about how many people your GP has seen that day and try and consider them too before complaining- ask the doctor how they are and say thank you when you’ve had a great service. It will probably make the difference between your doctor have a good day or a fantastic day in the office! Thanks to everyone at the surgery for everything you do. PS- even the domestic takes time to say ‘hello’ and to give you a smile when he’s working in the surgery public areas.....that’s another nice thing!
