What I liked
I had all of my antenatal midwifery care and check ups from Hexham Maternity Unit and thought the staff and unit were marvellous. I was then lucky enough to give birth in the unit and was not disappointed - the care was superb, the unit is staffed by friendly and understanding midwives supported by the lovely ancillary staff making sure baby and I were incredibly well looked after, fed and watered! I arrived quite late in the labour and the staff leapt into action and shortly afterwards my daughter arrived. I was offered a bath and a sandwich was found for me despite it being the evening. I couldn't fault the treatment I received throughout my pregnancy until I was discharged and from the number of thank you cards and general view in the local community it would seem there is a general feeling of very high regard for HMU. One of the experienced midwives looks after us each week at the local breastfeeding group and brings home baked goodies all in her own time. The staff really are fantastic and should be given credit.
"A wonderful unit giving fantastic support and care..."
