My son is 10 years old & has severe mental & physical disabilities the wheelchair service has struck him off their books because they say he can “walk” which is utter nonsense, he has no idea what day of the week it is let alone where he is walking to. Yes he can take a few steps but that’s it, he wears splints as hyper mobility. It is true we do not use the chair in our home as our house has not been adapted & I don’t want him confined to a chair when he can crawl around safely! However when he goes out he needs a vehicle also when visiting other indoor spaces he needs transport. They won’t even assess him to help us find a suitable chair for him, which we would pay for.
life with a disabled child is hard enough without this added pressure - feel totally let down!!
"Shocking!!!"
