"Attitude fragmented care"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

My husband admitted to FVRH last week. The day following his admission the staff nurse could not inform his relatives with regards previous care as they informed us they had not been there the day before. Upon questioning as to whether care was not an ongoing process with staff we were told they would have to consult his notes as they could not remember everything about the patients in their care. My husband had been in their care over twenty four hrs. we were then told he had a CT scan and  the result was read out to us. Then we were informed an MRI had been taken, I asked which part of his body had received this. I still await the answer.

There are problems also with telephone communications.I tried to have contact with the AAWard 2 to find No pickup for 45 mins. One is stressed with a loved one in hospital ,this standard of inefficiency beggars believe. Why also do the staff change almost daily? Continuity is important, patients when they are really ill become badly disorientated with daily new faces. Staff appear to remain in the same unit, but are given different areas to move into daily. All atrocious practice in my view, we have certainly regressed in patient care.
