"Breast cancer care"

About: Derriford Hospital

I have been treated for breast cancer, starting with a referral from my GP, for a lump that did not show up on a mammogram. From the beginning, with a scan and biopsy, followed by a visit to the consultant, I have been treated with kindness, courtesy, speedy treatment.

I had surgery in August, which went very well, and radiotherapy a few weeks later. I had some problems with fluid retention, which was dealt with speedily by the excellent breast care nurses in the drop in clinic.

The Primrose Breast Care centre is exemplary, the Oncology Dept. also very efficient, even when the machines broke down! The radiology staff were so kind and we even managed a few jokes along the way.

I am now completely recovered and very grateful for the treatment and care I have received.
