"elderly care "

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / General Medicine (Wards 3, 4, 5 &46)

(as the patient),

My mother has been in ward 30 Glasgow royal infirmary for three weeks. In that time the level of care and professionalism of nursing staff that treated my mother and one ward doctor in particular was in, my opinion, disgraceful and frankly very concerning.

Two weeks ago, at start of visit, my mum looked unwell. We thought she was in hypo and she was. Her blood levels were at one. There was no CT scan carried out to determine brain damage. On two separate occasions my mother was vomiting fluids back up. I don't believe nursing staff who witnessed this logged it. She has been totally off her feet. We are told she wouldn’t walk, sit up in a chair and this was the way she was prior to stroke she took late last year.

We were out mind, turned out no stroke, this was because she was in a stroke ward as no beds available. When ward doctor was asked about this he replied why do you think she was in a stroke ward, so it seems to me they didn’t even check last discharge letters just assumed as she was in a stroke ward she had a stroke. These people are here to save lives, silly mistakes is not excuse ,no rehabilitation offered to her after been off her feet ,told that’s best she going to be take her home.
