"Cervical Spine Injury."

About: West Cumberland Hospital

I called 111and was told that due to an Accident with falling down the Stairs and Damaging my Spine which already has issues with Cervical Spondylosis i would need an Ambulance, i was walked onto the Ambulance then had to walk into the A&E Waiting room and told to wait and be called for, when a Doctor called me and took me into Cubicle 4 he asked me questions that was on the Form from the Ambulance Personnel, he said i need Xrays so had 3 of them and then it felt like I was fobbed off because he said i had better and stronger Medication at home so by the time i was admitted to exit i was only in there for the most 2.5hours which i think is shocking.

Dear Mr Woolmer

I am so sorry that a fall in your home resulted in you having to attend Accident and Emergency. This must have been a worrying time for you especially since you suffer with cervical spondylosis.

Although the time you spent in the department was fairly short I totally understand that feeling ‘fobbed off’ must have left you very frustrated and upset whilst you were in so much pain. Hopefully it was reassuring to you that after your x-rays you were allowed to go home and rest with your own medication.

It is important that medical staff clarify all written details to make sure they are accurate; this allows them to provide you with the best possible care.

I will share your review with the senior staff in the Accident & Emergency so that they are aware of how you felt about your time in the department.

I hope that you are continuing to improve.

Take care,

Alison S-D
