my advice to anyone who is nervous about going into New Cross for a TAVI operation as I was is, when it is over you will be left wondering why was I worried. The treatment I had while in b14 was exceptional, kindness, care, skill, and reassurance, are just routine the operation itself was carried out by a world class surgeon and his team, I did not experience any pain whatsoever and even had a choice of my favourite music to listen to during the operation.
Four days later I returned home, feeling well knowing that I could call B14 anytime for help and advice should I become concerned over anything.
What did I learn from my stay, Wolverhampton has probably one of the finest heart and lung hospitals in the country, 2 patients on my ward were operated on within 2 hours of their first contact with their GP, Emergency arrivals have to be seen to be believed the teams react so quickly at any hour of the day or night. We are indeed fortunate to have such a unit as this staffed by the highest quality, caring, dedicated people, in Wolverhampton.
