"Concerns of new partnership"

About: Frimley Park Hospital Frimley Park Hospital / Accident and emergency Heatherside Surgery

(as a relative),

Heatherside Surgery has been the most patient friendly and with extraordinary assistance for those in need of medial help. Our family have been registered with the surgery for the past 4 years.

Since the new regime has taken over with paramedic triage and having, at times, to attend Park Road surgery in place of our local one has made the need of medical care more stressful and certainly more inconvenient. I also fear that the ball is now being dropped.

My daughter was taken ill with body pain and an extremely high temperature. We did all the usual home remedies but after two days of matters not improving we phoned Heatherside. The wonderful lady who answered said she would get someone to call us back which a paramedic did. The paramedic concluded that this was flu and to just keep taking paracetamol every 4 hours. By day 5, a Sunday, being extremely worried about my daughter an appointment was insisted upon by the out of hours doctor at Frimley Park Hospital. Upon arrival my daughter was admitted and after blood tests was put on intravenus antibiotics and hydration fluids. Fortunately this kidney infection responded well to the medication was able to return home after 3 days.

I feel if she had spoken directly to a doctor immediately, as would have happened in the past, then an appointment would have been found within hours of the call that same day and antibiotics administered. This would have saved the NHS numerous blood tests and a hospital stay.
