"Shockingly awful."

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

What I liked

Getting out of there.

What could be improved

More organisation on wards

Rude staff should be retrained. The ward I was on had some elderly patients with dementia, they were spoken to in a way I found unacceptable.

The day after my op I was given permission to leave. I was shoved in a dayroom, in my nightdress, with loads of men waiting to be admitted to another ward. When I asked for my dressing gown I was told it was packed in a bag somewhere - they didnt bother looking for it. There was one nurse I would like to complain about - if someone will contact me.

Why did I have to be pushed to theatre, in my bed, through the reception area?. It was humiliating, it was like being pushed through Manchester airport, with everyone in a coffee shop, newsagents, and everyone waiting for their apointment staring. This was horrible.

The chaos in the fracture clinic is beyond belief, staff wandering around with notes, calling patients who have already been called by other members of staff.

When attending orthopeadics out patients If you need an X Ray first, why do you have to walk all the way to the fracture clinic to have to turn around and walk all the way back to X-Ray? this is a stupid waste of time. Patients who need an x-ray first should be called straight to the x ray department.

Why on earth do I have to travel to Pinderfields, when there is a hospital in Dewsbury.

Anything else?

The staff can be very rude and dismissive.

Some of the volunteers in the doorway, while trying their best to be helpful, are not much use. Better signs are needed so you dont have to have some poor octogenarian trying to point out where you need to go.

Staff standing about discussing what pay grade everyone is on. One hot topic was if staff are considered to be "management" they no longer have to wear a uniform, just smart buisness type wear, and there was much discussion about who could call themselves management. There needs to be more concentration on providing a decent service and less on gossiping about what everyone else gets paid.

This is the truth, but I bet you wont print it.

We are concerned to note these comments and certainly would not condone staff displaying a poor attitude. We would be pleased to investigate if the patient would like to contact us directly. The email address is pals@midyorks.nhs.uk
